The Team
The clinic was established in 2006 by Duncan Mason, who has been working as a qualified Physiotherapist since 1990.
All Chartered Physiotherapists who work from the clinic are registered with the Health Professions Council and are experts in their fields:
Paul Savage MCSP
Paul qualified at the University of the West of England, Bristol in 1998 then worked for 4 years within the NHS before moving into the Private sector in 2002.
Paul joined the team at Athlete Matters in 2007 and now works full-time at the clinic. In September 2010 he will be starting a part-time Masters degree in Acupuncture.
Paul specialises in treating triathletes, cyclists and runners with his extensive skills of manual therapy, sports massage, core stability, exercise prescription and acupuncture.
Paul also offers a bike-fitting service where his expertise lies in his ability to combine his knowledge of cycling and human movement to assess bike fit in the treatment and prevention of overuse injuries. This is a unique service which uses a series of on and off the bike measurements and bike fitting tools to optimise a client's cycling position.
For the past five years Paul has represented Great Britain at age-group level in triathlon. He finished 3rd at the European Triathlon Championships in Athlone, Ireland in 2010 and 5th (1st GB) in the World Championships (both 30-34 age group). He is a good runner with a 10k PB of 31.59. Paul is also a keen skier and has vast experience in rehabilitation following skiing injuries.
Paul understands the demands of competitive sport and the frustration of injury. His clients benefit from a combination of advanced physiotherapy skills and training advice based on his own personal experiences as an athlete and physiotherapist.
Susan Scott MCSP
Sue qualified in 1998 and worked in Northern Ireland before relocating to Manchester and starting work at Worsley Physio Clinic in 2007. Sue has completed the kinetic control movement dysfunction courses and follows this approach to successfully rehabilitate her patients. Sue has also completed the MACP Courses (Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapists). She is particularly skilled in the management of spinal conditions.
Clare Warwick MCSP
Clare qualified in 1989 and has worked in the NHS ever since. Her area of speciality is womens health and continence. Clare has worked at the clinic since 2007. She has trained as an APPI Pilates instructor and runs regular Pilates classes from the clinic including post natal Pilates.
Alex O’Gorman MCSP
Alex graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University and has since worked in the musculoskeletal area in private practice. Alex consolidated his experience whilst working in the NHS, initially as a junior Whythenshawe hospital and later specialising in orthopaedic rehabilitation.
Alex has a keen interest in back and lower limb injuries, and this is aided by his experience competing with elite athletes, having run for the North of England on several occasions. Alex has worked with several international distance runners return from injury and has worked with some of the world’s best athletes whilst working as a physiotherapist for The Great Run events.
Nick Sutton MCSP
Nick graduated in 2003 and has worked in the NHS and Private Sector ever since. He currently works as a Senior Clinician at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Nick has worked in semi Professional Football and is a keen golfer. Nick uses his skills to treat all musculoskeletal conditions, his post graduate experience has led him to adopt a hands on approach. He is also member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.
Jane Warren MCSP
Jane qualified in 2004 and currently works as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at Stepping Hill Hospital. She also works within semi Professional football. Jane is skilled in the latest management of all musculoskeletal conditions currently working regularly with Orthopaedic surgeons. Jane is an APPI Pilates Instructor and a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.
Jordana Anderson MCSP
Jordana has worked as a Senior Physiotherapist at Salford Hospitals NHS trust and more recently in Central Manchester, where she specialised in Musculoskeletal outpatients. Jordana is also a fully trained and highly skilled Pilates Instructor and uses this in her treatment approach to re-educate movement dysfunction. Her other post graduate training is in sports injuries and she is skilled in her hands on approach to treatment. Jordana is an ex- Professional figure skater and uses her knowledge as Team Physiotherapist to the Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Team.
